Mango

Imam Pasand as the name suggests is one of the main attractions of the mango season from Andhra Pradesh. A Mango that is extremely juicy and pulpy, used to be a favourite among the Nawabs of the state. No wonder the name summarises its calling.

With a thin skin and seed, the available pulp is in plenty making it a delightful Mango. Fibreless, a soft pulp, juicy, this mango is also known as Himayat in Andhra Pradesh.

Known as Hamam, Himayat or Himam Pasand, there is no shred of doubt that this variety of Mango is a popular favourite too.

Tree Farming and More:

Most of the Imam Pasand is grown in the regions of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. A variety that is large and not among the most attractive looking kinds, yet reaches the heart of its followers through its rich aroma and taste. Imam Pasand is mostly available between May and June and on an average weighs up to 400 gms.

From mottled green to smudged yellow when ripened, Imam Pasand is preferred to be harvested when it is matured green. For the best quality of fruits the harvesting ideally should take place between 2 to 4 weeks before ripening on the tree. The right notes of the fruit, which occurs when properly harvested happens to be fibreless, silky flesh with a deep, sweet flavor.

From fruit to harvesting the mango takes about 120 days and grows best in temperate conditions, where there is adequate sunlight and soil with proper moisture. The tree and fruit are tolerant of diseases and don't require diligent care.

Palate Charmer:

The nawabs liked it, so will you. It is fibreless and is enjoyed as a table fruit first. The smoothness of its taste, means more predominant use of the Mango as a whole fruit. Put it in salads, shakes and other desserts. You will love it.
